August 25, 2009

St George Illawarra Dragons players have today visited nine schools in the Wollongong area in support of the NSW Department of Education and Training's Positive Behaviour for Success (PBS) program.

PBS is an educational program that Dragons Community has been supporting throughout the year under the Education pillar. PBS aims to promote positive learning environments and positive attitudes, values and behaviour amongst students.

Dragons players Wendell Sailor, Nathan Fien, Beau Henry, Neville Costigan, Darius Boyd, Alex Ranieri, Mat Head, Nick Emmett, Brett Morris and Trent Merrin today visited the schools assisting with presentations and reinforcing the importance of school values and discussing the comparisons with the Dragons own team values.

Students were treated to entertaining question and answers session with their favourite players, before award ceremonies took place where incentives such as Dragons packs, posters and certificates were handed out. All schools also received a framed Dragons Values poster.

"Students at the nine schools today gained a great insight in to the Dragons Values and how they successfully achieve these," said Dragons Community Manager Paul Everill. "It was an opportunity for the students to see that their school values are not too dissimilar to the values of the Dragons".

So far in 2009, Dragons players have made 15 presentations with a further 12 scheduled for the coming weeks.

Positive Behaviour for Success (PBS) is part of the Education pillar of Dragons Community. 'Dragons Community' is a strategic initiative of the St George Illawarra Dragons. It is a comprehensible and sustainable 'program that aims to have a positive impact on people's lives within our community that stretches from Kogarah in the north to Batemans Bay in the south of New South Wales.
