NSW Blues and Indigenous All Stars Coach Laurie Daley will mentor 62 of the best Under 15 Indigenous players from NSW tomorrow (Friday) as part of a selection camp for the 2013 Harvey Norman Rugby League All Stars week.
The three-day camp at Redfern’s National Centre for Indigenous Excellence will include workshops, core skills sessions, fitness testing and culminate in a trial match on Sunday morning.
Following the camp, a squad will be picked for the NSW Indigenous Under 16s versus QLD Indigenous Under 16s match which will feature as a curtain-raiser to the 2013 Harvey Norman Rugby League All Stars game at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium on February 9.
“These camps are vital for us to further develop Indigenous Rugby League at an elite level,” said NSWRL Indigenous Programs Officer Steve Hall.
“This development pathway has produced players like Ben Barba, Dane Gagai and Jamal Idris, just to name a few. The National Centre of Indigenous Excellence is a state-of-the-art facility so we hope the boys benefit from the experience.”
