12/11/2012 4:27:21 PM

The Canberra Raiders top squad spent some time on Saturday spread across the region, to help promote and raise money for the annual McHappy Day.

The Raiders were spread over a total of 17 stores in the region, including Tuggeranong, Dickson, Belconnen, Gungahlin, Charnwood and Mitchell.

The annual event aims to Raise much needed funds for the Ronald McDonald House Charity, which provides assistance for Australian families with seriously ill children while they battle their illness.

Raiders centre Blake Ferguson and forward Josh Papalii attended the McDonalds in Belconnen to help raise some money as they spoke to customers in the drive thru and helped collect money.

Ferguson said it was a great cause to be behind and hoped the clubs efforts helped raise plenty of money.

"It was a lot of fun on Saturday being a part of McHappy day and we convinced plenty of people to make a donation," Ferguson said. "Its a great cause and we were happy to be a part of it.

"The only issue on the day was making sure Papa didn't eat too many cheeseburgers."

Funds for the region haven't been finalised, but event organisers have indicated the day was a huge success.
